Jenna Ortega has become a household name as Wednesday, and if the rumours are true she could be starring in Beetlejuice 2.

All of the gothic roles are at her feet now, with some claiming Jenna is set to play the daughter of Lydia Deetz in the sequel.

Lydia was originally played by Stranger Things star Winona Ryder.

Jeff Sneider says the follow up to the 1988 classic film is "finally a go".

There has been talk of a sequel for years.

Now, Sneider's publication The Ankler says the original cast are reuniting to come back for a second film.

This would include Ryder as Deetz, Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse, and Catherine O'Hara as Lydia's step-mother Delia Deetz.

Rumours of the film first appeared in 2022, with reports claiming Brad Pitt's production house Plan B was financing it.

Ortega is currently hugely popular thanks to her starring role as Wednesday Addams.

She has also starred in Netflix's You, Jane the Virgin, Scream and Scream VI.

Director Tim Burton was recently asked by Deadline about a sequel, and he said "nothing is out of the question".

"I only know if I'm making a film when I'm actually on the set shooting," he said.

"I try to go back to the root of everything. It springs from a seed and then it grows, rather than out of these statements.

"I am working on ideas and things but it's all very early days. We'll set how it goes. How's that for a non-answer?"

Ryder said: "I’m definitely excited and I’m really hopeful that it’ll happen.

"The only way we would do it is if everything was perfect and we had all the people – obviously Michael [Keaton] and obviously Tim [Burton]."
