Inspiring news from all over the world as a pair of 81 year old besties decide to go around the world in 80 days.

Say howdy to Sandy Hazelip and Ellie Hamby, from Abilene Texas, who met in Africa before Covid hit, became instant friends and decided they wanted to do a trip of a lifetime together, and inspired by Jules Verne, they decided to seize the day, 80 of them in fact, and have a round the world adventure.

No luxury hotels, no travel agent involved, it’s hostels and hammocks all the way as the inspiring pair have lived on a shoestring and their adventure has taken them from Bognor Regis, to Beijing, to Buenos Aires, smiling all the way, talking to people, experiencing their culture and sending a clear signal to the elderly of the world that, in their words: “If you don’t use it you lose it”. Sandy and Ellie are inspiring people young and old all over the world as their heart warming story spreads.

Credit: Turkish Airlines - rescue dogs from Thailand on their way home first class!

You know I love a pawsome story and here’s a news pupdate of heroic proportions, as we meet the rescue dogs of Turkey who are being flown across the world, first class!

When news broke of the devastation caused by those earthquakes on the border of Turkey and Syria, a lot of heroes heeded the call for help, and many of them were four legged and furry.

Heroic hounds from the four corners of the world flew in with their handlers. We are talking about highly trained and expertly skilled dogs from the UK, US, Israel, El Salvador, Mexico, Qatar, South Korea, China, India, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, and 17 EU countries, to lend their expert noses to help locate survivors in the rubble.

Dogs are the last line of defence in the fight against people perishing under collapsed buildings, when those trapped stop calling, or banging, they’re the ones that find them and the Turkish government has acknowledged the bravery and expertise of these amazing pooches with first class seats home on Turkish Airways.
