Celebrities took to the red carpet for the UK premiere of new movie Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania took last night (16th February), with legendary couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones among them.

The Marvel film sees Paul Rudd return as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, while Hollywood icon Douglas stars as Hank Pym, a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and physicist who became the original Ant-Man after creating the suit.

Ahead of the latest film in the series hitting cinemas today (17th February), the UK premiere was held at BFI IMAX Waterloo yesterday, where Catherine Zeta-Jones exclusively told virginradio.co.uk about her husband playing a superhero. “It's great to see him having fun with this, and it's great to see this whole new generation of Michael Douglas fans, because majority of his movies are R-rated and they were a long time ago,” she said.

The Welsh-born actress continued: “I just saw the fun that he has doing it, and then some of some of the scenes, he makes me laugh because he looks a little like a little kid in a candy shop, playing with all these gadgets and monsters running around! It’s pretty cool.”

Douglas’ character is married to Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne, who is the original Wasp, and was lost in the Quantum Realm for 30 years. “I hope now he settles in with his wife Janet, who was gone for 30 years and only recently came back in Quantumania, before we had to go back down there again,” the Basic Instinct star said of his character.

On what is in store for his character in the Ant Man franchise, he added: “We'll see what happens, [what] the future holds. Right now, he's working on the marriage with Janet.”

Cast members Evangeline Lilly, Kathryn Newton, Jonathan Majors, and director Peynton Reed were all in attendance at last night’s UK premiere, as was the film’s lead Paul Rudd, who spoke to us about facing the “most powerful” Marvel villain yet in the new movie.

Earlier this week, Evangeline Lilly and Kathryn Newton joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch to talk about Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Kathryn - who plays Rudd’s character’s daughter Cassie - told Chris: ““Cassie really has no idea what she's doing. She's a total mess.

"It was my first Marvel movie, so if you see the movie, you see Cassie Lang kind of tripping up and everything, like being kind of a dork, but that's really just Kathryn, right? Trying to figure out how to be a superhero too.”

Ant-Man And The Wasp - Quantumania is in cinemas today, 17th February.
