Richie Sambora has become the latest celeb to be knocked out of The Masked Singer and has revealed plans for more solo music and what he would have done if he made the final.
The Bon Jovi legend, who disguised himself as Jacket Potato, was voted out of Saturday night’s show (11th February) alongside Jellyfish, who turned out to be singer Amber Riley.
Speaking to virginradio.co.uk and other press, the rocker revealed just how difficult it is to move in those crazy costumes.
He said: “It was like being inside a grenade. My eyes were the mouth and there’s like a veil. It was tough. I had boxes for feet and my crotch came down to the middle of my knees. It got a little heated in there.”
Sambora, who is no stranger to wearing tight-fitted outfits, also joked: “I like to keep my package tight.”
Despite this, the singer said he enjoyed the experience and added: “I had the greatest time.”
Speaking about the song choices, Sambora revealed he didn’t get to pick the music but was very happy with the song choices.
When singing an Annie Lennox song, he realised he had a high range than she did. He said: “Annie’s a mezzo and that’s in the key of A. So, my voice was higher than her.
“I even did a version ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’, my old girlfriend! That might have given it away a little.”
Sadly, Richie was just one week away from making the final of The Masked Singer and it seems we missed out on a treat because the musician revealed he would have done a Bon Jovi song for the big night.
He added: “If I had got to the final I was going to do It’s My Life”.
The singer also explained how much he loved doing covers and solo music, and shared he will be releasing a new solo album at the end of the month.
He said: “New music at the end of the month, beginning of April and it will be my 6th solo album. That’s why The Masked Singer was a good idea because after all this time, people still don’t know I can sing.
“It’s surprising because it was part of our band, I always did vocals with Jon [Bon Jovi]. It was part of our sound!”
The Masked Singer final airs on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
