Are you ready for Happy Valley on Sunday? It’s not just the final episode of this series, but the last episode ever.

As we prepare to bid farewell to the hit show, a teaser trailer has aired to give us a glimpse of what we can expect from the finale.

The short clip - it's only 16 seconds long - opens with a shot of main character, Sgt Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) standing on the street, next to a police car. She glances upwards, and has a look of concern on her face.

Then, her grandson Ryan is questioned about his dad, the escaped convict, played by James Norton. “When was the last time you had any contact with Tommy Lee Royce?” he is asked. We don’t hear his answer, but we wonder if he will be honest about their little online voice chat in the penultimate episode, in which the murderer told his son he wanted the pair to escape to Spain together.

Then, we see Catherine's sister Clare (Siobhan Finneran), ask: “Have you caught him?” After which, her soon-to-retire sibling says: “He’s still out there.”

We then hear: “He’s going to be angry, and he’s going to be even more desperate and dangerous.”

The short trailer also shows Royce sneaking around a house. Uh-oh.

We also see police running to action, and the trailer ends - worryingly - with Catherine in tears.

Whilst the teaser gives us a look at the main storyline, don’t forget there are subplots to be tied up as well, involving pharmacist/killer Faisal (Amit Shah) and teacher/awful person Rob (Mark Stanley), as well as goons Goons Matija (Jack Bandeira) and Ivan (Oliver Huntingdon).

With all this drama to be concluded, it is little wonder that the last ever episode of the acclaimed BBC show will run for ten minutes longer than usual, clocking in at 70 minutes. The synopsis on BBC iPlayer reads: "Scores are settled for good on Catherine’s final shift, and Ryan faces a moral dilemma."

We will be glued to our tellies on Sunday night, and we suspect you will be too!

Happy Valley concludes at 9pm on Sunday 5th February on BBC One.
