Toby Jones has admitted audiences aren’t ready for just how emotional the next Indiana Jones movie will be.

He stars in the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones adventure, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, with Harrison Ford suiting up as the intrepid explorer once more.

Toby will star as Basil in the upcoming sequel, and while sitting down with virginradio.co.uk at the premiere of Empire of Light, the Marvel star gave a little glimpse into what Indiana Jones fans can expect.

He explained: “All I can say is that it's extraordinarily ambitious. I found the story very moving, which I wasn't expecting to find. If the script is reflected in the final film, then I think people will be really struck with that. It's quite an emotional film.”

On working with Harrison Ford, who has played the legendary archeologist for over 40 years, Toby admitted it was a pinch-me moment to witness him don the hat and whip once more.

He continued: “You don't expect to work with these people and it was fantastic working with Harrison. He was very down to earth and an extraordinary 80 year old.”

Toby’s illustrious CV includes some other big-name franchises, including the Harry Potter series, as the voice of Dobby the House Elf, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the Jurassic World movies.

It’s not something the big-screen star ever expected either, as he shared: “I don't really have any sort of scheme like that. I really love the process of both working not just in film, but in theatre and TV.

Part of the business of being an actor is learning to love not knowing what's happening next, even though it can be very anxious. There's this element of gambling about it, I do continue to love that.”

Toby is currently busy promoting his latest movie, Empire of Light, which is out in cinemas now.

He plays projectionist Norman in the film, which is centred around a local cinema situated on the south coast during the 1980s.

Toby stars alongside Olivia Colman, who dished to virginradio.co.uk how leading the period drama was a ‘scary’ experience

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to land in cinemas on 30th June, 2023. Empire of Light is out in cinemas now.
