Celine Dion has postponed her tour after being diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder.

The singer posted two emotional videos to Instagram on Thursday (8th December), in French and English, to share that she had something called Stiff Person Syndrome that was causing spasms and affecting her ability to walk and sing.

She said: "Recently I've been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called the stiff person syndrome, which affects one in a million people.

'While we're still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what's been causing all the spasms I've been having."

She continued: "Unfortunately, the spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.

"It hurts me to tell you today that this means I won't be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February".

Dion revealed she had no choice but to postpone her Courage tour, which was due to restart in February after several delays. Her spring 2023 shows have now been moved to 2024 and her summer 2023 shows have been canceled altogether.

The singer added: "I miss seeing all of you, being on the stage, performing for you. I always give 100% when I do my shows, but my condition is not allowing me to give you that right now.”

Fans and friends of Dion flooded the comments of her video with well wishes and praised the singer for speaking about her condition, with one person writing: “We love you, Celine ❤️❤️❤️ Praying for you”.

Another said: “We love you, too, Celine. You’ve inspired and given us all so much. It’s important for you to focus that beautiful energy on yourself. We will be here when you’re ready. ♥️ love you”.

A third commented: 💔my heart breaks for you hearing this, so sorry you have been struggling for so long but the best knows is you now have a diagnosis. So happy to hear that you have a wonderful family and team of doctors behind you. You are in our prayers and thank you for sharing something so personal. We love you Celine!!❤️.”
