Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren rule the ranch in first trailer for Yellowstone prequel 1923

Harrison Ford will join Helen Mirren to wage war in the Old West for their Yellowstone prequel series, 1923. 

The Hollywood heavy-hitters star in the second Yellowstone spin-off as another generation of the Dutton family, with Harrison playing Jacob Dutton, the brother of Yellowstone’s John Dutton. 

Helen will star as Cara Dutton, the wife of Jacob and the Dutton matriarch, and the couple are at the forefront of an incoming “range war” between the Duttons and an invading family. 

Bond star Timothy Dalton will play the wealthy new raunch neighbour Donald Whitfield, who threatens to take the “whole valley”, and all those within it. 

According to Paramount Plus’ synopsis , the show is set during “the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”

The gritty trailer begins with Cara and Donald coming face-to-face, with Cara telling the ranch owner: “This is Yellowstone, and you have no rights here” while a bloody battle ensues in the background. 

“Men kill quick, a bullet or a noose, but your fight is with me, and I kill much slower,” a determined Cara says to another member of the enemy family. 

Meanwhile, the world of an actual war takes place, with soldiers walking perilously across a battlefield, while Jacob insists to a counterpart: “Tell the world what happens when they cross me."

With the violence appearing neverending, interspersed throughout the dramatic trailer, Jacob closes out the trailer by saying: “You attack my family, it’ll be the last thing you ever do.”

The massively popular OG Yellowstone show stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, a widowed sixth-generation patriarch of the Dutton family who runs the Yellowstone/Dutton Ranch. The season four finale was watched by a whopping 9.3million viewers, and production has begun on Season five.

The new prequel starring Ford and Mirren won’t be the first Yellowstone spin-off, as 1883, starring Sam Elliott, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and LaMonica Garrett and Isabel May, premiered at the end of last year.

1923 will be available to watch on Paramount Plus on 18th December.
