Richard Marx on Virgin Radio and his famous Marx-Tini

Richard Marx has lifted the lid on his famous Marx-Tini, which he’s previously labelled as “the greatest concoction.”

After being enjoyed by The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky’s team this morning (Tuesday 15th November), we’ve dug out the incredible mix of spices, lemon and ginger which will help give you the smoothest of voices (just make sure you drink it right!).

The Marx-Tini recipe goes as follows:

  • 1 teaspoon of crushed powdered ginger

  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon of honey (or a generous glug)

  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

All you have to do to enjoy a delicious Marx-Tini is give it a stir with some boiling water, and then add cold water to make it tepid - and enjoy!

Speaking about his healing mixture on the Breakfast show earlier this month, the musician revealed how the recipe fell into his lap, and how he hasn’t looked back since.

Richard explained: “I was on tour with Ringo Starr and his band. I lost my voice one day and Sheila E. hooked me up with this concoction, and I’ve never had voice issues since then. I drink it every night when I’m on tour.

“Right before the pandemic, I got this text from Bryan Adams and it says: “Dude, I’m in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I’ve got a gig in three hours and my voice is gone, what’s that you drink? I gave him the whole recipe, the mixture, and then you put it in the microwave for 45 [seconds].

“The thing is, this same exact drink can also be used as a cleanse, and the difference between using it as a cleanse or for the voice is for a cleanse you drink it, for your voice you just sip it and I forgot to tell him.”

The Right Here Waiting hit maker not only dropped the incredible tipple at the Top of the Tower, but he also spoke about his brand new album, Songwriter.

The artist’s 13th record is split into four EPs: Ballads, Pop, Rock and Country. Richard told Chris: “I’m as proud of the five pop songs on this new album as anything I’ve ever done in the pop world.”

He continued: “To stay current, and to stay fresh and youthful and modern, is only done by staying plugged in and listening to great new music. And when people ask me what music I’m listening to, it’s not old music, it’s always new music.”
