The new DC comic book flick, Black Adam, is out in cinemas today, but can we expect to see more of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s powerful anti-hero?

The high octane adventure follows the story of a slave who is suddenly bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods. However, soon after receiving his gift, he is imprisoned.

Nearly 5,000 years later, Black Adam is free from his tomb and ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Black Adam also includes the likes of Pierce Brosnan, who plays Dr Fate, with Atom Smasher’s Noah Centineo and Aldis Hodge, who plays Hawkman. They all appear in the Justice Society of America, who are determined to stop Black Adam on his path of destruction, in the hopes he will help them stop a force more powerful than Adam himself.

For The Rock, his plans for the Black Adam and JSA universe don’t just stop at this first movie.

While on the black carpet at the UK premiere of Black Adam on Tuesday (18th October) asked Dwayne about what could happen for his character and the JSA, and he’s not alone in his excitement for the future of the DC movie universe.

He explained: “We at Seven Bucks, our production company, are viewing our storytelling within the DC universe as long-term. So if that includes a sequel, great!"

It doesn’t stop there, according to Dwayne, who added: “There's the sequel idea, but also, what we wanted to do was introduce these new characters and build them up and put the spotlight on them and create films and series for them.”

For super strong Atom Smasher star Noah, he’s more than up for reprising his role in another DC adventure, adding: “If the fans want it, then we are all so geared and ready to go.”

When it comes to what makes his incredibly powerful superhero different from the rest of the pack, Noah said it was all down to humour, despite being in the face of danger.

He explained: “Atom Smasher is a young metahuman that has no idea what it means to be a superhero. He also doesn't have a full understanding of his powers and what his capabilities are, and I think that's hilarious.

“It gives this really, really wonderful way into the story of a superhero and a much bigger story of Black Adam and the Justice Society coming together. So there's a lot in this film that we've never seen before.”

Hawkman, played by Aldis, has the ability to fly, breathe underwater and is said to have the strength of 12 men, so it’s no surprise the actor behind the superhero would be happy to relive that once more.

On potentially getting a Hawkman movie, Aldis shared: “That's up to the fans, honestly. I mean, I would love that but it really is if the fans want to see it, we’ll give it to them.”

On what initially sparked his interest in playing a comic book character not yet seen on the big screen, the Leverage star replied: “Hawkman is an incredible character, I call him an elegant savage. But as an actor, being able to step up to this particular role gave me the opportunity to jump into the shoes of progressive change, being a part of pushing that conversation, for being a part of representation so the little black and brown kids can see what I didn't see when I was growing up.

“I didn't see me in these suits. I didn't think I could be there. Now they know they're supposed to be there. And that's a difference. I'm very proud and humbled to be in the space of carrying that responsibility.”
