Having a loyal fan base is definitely handy when it comes to Strictly Come Dancing.

That’s the belief of incoming contestant Matt Goss, who will hit the dance floor for the 2022 series next month.

The singer was part of 1980s pop band Bros with twin brother Luke Goss, and the duo had massive chart success in 1988 with When Will I Be Famous.

The fans, lovingly referred to as the Brosettes, have been by the side of the duo since the start of their pop days, and Matt believes their support will help him reach Strictly glory.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Matt revealed why his fans might just be his secret weapon, explaining: “The Brosettes have been around for more than 30 years. They are superfans.

“After all this time you get to know their names and who they are and they have been a huge part of our story so you care about them.”

Matt continued: “Sometimes when we arrive at an airport, they are there and out of 100 people you recognise 70 of them. It’s a nice feeling.”

The former frontman will be making his big return to the UK for the dancing competition, having spent much of the last decade performing his residency in Las Vegas.

On top of having a successful music career, Matt is a best-selling author and currently has some new books in the works. He is also set to play the starring role in an upcoming psychological thriller movie titled Cobbler Killer Stranger.

Speaking about joining the Strictly line-up, he said: “I’m extremely nervous and excited, but I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down.”

The full list of confirmed celebrities are Will Mellor, Kym Marsh, Richie Anderson, Kaye Adams, Jayde Adams, Ellie Simmonds, Tyler West, Matt Goss, Ellie Taylor, Molly Rainford, Tony Adams, Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, James Bye, and Helen Skelton.

Speaking of Strictly, as well as the upcoming competition, the BBC phenomenon is also celebrating two nominations at the National Television Awards 2022, including Talent Show, and Talent Show Judge for Anton Du Beke.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One on 17th September.
