The second Black Panther movie, Wakanda Forever, is set to be released later this year, so here is everything we know about the new film from cast and plot to premiere date and first look trailer.

Wakanda Forever will be the first Black Panther film since the death of its lead actor Chadwick Boseman, who died in 2020 from colon cancer.

Marvel later confirmed they would not be recasting Boseman’s role but will be focusing on other characters in the Black Panther universe instead.

So without further ado, here is everything we know about the upcoming movie:

What is the plot?

As mentioned above, Wakanda Forever will be deviating from the character of T’Challa following Boseman’s passing but will still pay tribute to the actor in some way.

Marvel also released a full synopsis of the highly anticipated movie during Comic Con.

It reads: “In Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.

“As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

Who will be in the cast?

The new Black Panther will be focusing on different characters in the Wakanda universe, and we will be seeing the return on some familiar faces.

Letitia Wright is reprising her role as T’Challa’s younger sister Shuri, with Danai Gurira also back as the Dora Milaje’s Okeye and Angela Bassett back as mother Ramonda.

Lupita Nyong’o will also be returning as the spy Nakia, with Winston Duke as M’Baky, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross and Florence Kasumba as Dora Milaje warrior Ayo.

Among the new faces joining the cast for the second movie will be Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, Michaela Coel as Dora Milaje leader Aneka and Tenoch Huerta as Talocan king Namor.

When does it come out?

It has been a long wait for fans of the franchise after the first film was released back in 2018 and was made even longer by a series of production delays caused by the pandemic.

The film was originally meant to premiere in 2021 but production eventually started back up in January 2022 and finished in March of the same year.

Now, Wakanda Forever is set to be released on 11th November, 2022.
