Huge congrats are in order for boxer and Strictly contestant Nicola Adams!

She’s just announced the birth of her son with partner Ella Baig, and shared the brilliant news via social media.

In an Instagram post with photos of the newborn’s feet and a snap from the delivery room, Nicola wrote: “We are so excited to announce to the world that @babyadamsadventures has arrived. The first moment we laid eyes on you we felt an instant love and the strongest bond.

“We went to the moon and back to get you and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives watching you grow.”

In a statement (via Metro), the athlete added: “We are so excited to have welcomed our son into the world on Saturday morning at around 7am. Nothing prepares you for this moment in life but I am so overwhelmed with love and proud of Ella.”

Nicola and Ella announced the news they were expecting their first child together back in February.

The couple shared the joyful news in a post on Instagram, which included an adorable picture of them kissing and a photograph of a baby scan.

In the caption, they wrote: “We’re so excited to announce that our family is expanding. After what feels like a lifetime, we can finally say we’re going to be parents!

“We’re so excited to share this magical journey with you all, the ups, the downs, everything in between. Welcome to the world little one.”

After Nicola shared the sweet news of Baby Adams’ arrival, her Strictly co-stars and famous friends shared their love in the announcement post.

Janette Manrara wrote: “Congratulations!,” while Johannes Radebe shared the same message. Singer Fleur East commented: “Ahhhh congratulations!!! Welcome to the world baby!”

The happy news comes after Nicola had spoken about the difficult journey to motherhood in an interview with Vogue.

She explained: “It’s always been a dream but, as a lesbian, I grew up wondering if it might be harder.”

The couple decided to go down the IVF route, and Nicola said: “We decided that Ella would carry the baby, that we’d use my egg, and find a sperm donor that resembled Ella.”

After two failed attempts and a miscarriage, the pair have finally been able to start the family they always wanted.

Congratulations Nicola, Ella and Baby Adams!
