Health news now and another encouraging update from the USA on the positive link between Alzheimers and oily fish as a new study shows you could reduce your risk by as much as 50%.
I shared with you a couple of years ago a study that first looked into how Omega 3 could be really beneficial in protecting you against Alzheimers, this more recent study has taken that data and looked further and deeper and the results are pretty astounding. I remember seeing a text that said “don’t be ridiculous Virgin radio, food cannot be medecine” - you, sir, can stick that in a fish sandwich because the results here are conclusive. Looking at participants' Omega 3 levels, the highest fifth, showed 49% less Alzheimer's risk as the lowest fifth. Even those in the higher percentile of Omega 3 levels who got it, got it nearly 5 years after those in the lowest quintile.
If you’re a vegetarian or vegan don’t worry, you can get vegan friendly omega 3 supplements from nuts and seeds and if you keep your seeds and nuts game strong - even better!
Fascinating news from Thailand where they’ve run a hugely successful trial into replacing antibiotics with cannabis in chickens and the results are phenomenal, not just for the chickens but for us too.
Did you know that the vast majority of antibiotics used in the world are routinely given to livestock? It’s not just to prevent infections, the antibiotics play havoc with their gut biome, just like it does with ours, causing what’s called dysbiosis, the animals put on weight and the farmer makes more money and feeds into what the World Health Organisation agree is humanity’s greatest health fear, that bugs will all become immune to antibiotics.
These chickens were given cannabis instead, this helped boost their gut biome and their own immunity worked so well they were healthier than chickens given antibiotics. Also the meat tasted way better, there was no trace of THC in it, so the farmers are now charging double for chickens fed with cannabis. The Thai government has now removed cannabis from their list of narcotic substances. They get it. When will we?
