Lee Mack - 'my Soccer Aid goal was the greatest thing that has ever happened’

Humble stuff from the hilarious one.

Lee Mark is limbering up to take part in the 11th annual Soccer Aid this Sunday [June 12th], and so it makes sense that he's been recalling a moment from his part participation.

You may well recall that last year Lee scored the final goal of the game, which was won by the World XI team, which ended 3-0 as they faced off against England. The Southport born comedians goal came in the final seconds of the match after he had missed two shots earlier.

Lee gushed to Metro, "Apart from my family, it’s the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, it was incredible". He then went on to clarify that he feels "no pressure" to do the same this year, "because the chances of scoring are so slim. I'm feeling very unfit and old, my usual self!"

The 53 year old continued; "I’m usually the oldest [on the pitch] but there’s some people calling me a kid this year!" Hmmm. Well, we suppose that former Manchester United and England striker Teddy Sheringham is 56, while Brazilian legend Cafu, at 52, is just a year younger.

Other big name participants at the event this year - which takes place at West Ham's home of the London Stadium in Stratford, London - include Line of Duty’s Martin Compston, popstar Tom Grennan, and Sir Mo Farah. Former One Direction star Liam Payne will captain the England squad, while Usain Bolt will return as captain of the opposing team - World XI FC.

Since its inception in 2006, Soccer Aid has raised over £60 million for the organisation, which helps bring aid to children all over the world.
