DC has dropped a trailer for their upcoming superhero movie Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson.

In the video, we see Johnson become the formidable hero after living his life as a slave and catch a glimpse of the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell and Bodhi Sabongui in their roles for the new film.

This will be the first feature film to explore the story of the DC character with Jaume Collet-Serra taking charge as director, and is also the first time Johnson will be appearing on our screens as a superhero.

Black Adam follows the story of a man who has lived as a slave his whole life and is suddenly bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods. However, soon after receiving his gift, he is imprisoned.

Now, nearly 5,000 years later, Black Adam (Johnson) is free from his tomb and ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Earlier this year, during CinemaCon in Caesars Palace, Johnson appeared on stage and told the audience that he had been working on this film for more than a decade.

He revealed: “The whole idea was, if we were going to do it, we were going to take our time and do it right. It really served us well to wait and hold and watch these other stories and these superheroes unfold.”

He added: “Black Adam is one of the things in my life that gets me out of bed.”

In other DC news, it was confirmed today that Joaquin Phoenix is onboard on another Joker film after a picture of him reading the script was shared along with the cover of the script that revealed the title of the film, Joker Folie à Deux’.

The images were shared by director Todd Phillips who will be returning for the new movie, along with screenwriter Scott Silver.

Black Adam will be released nationwide on 21st October 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
