A first look trailer of the upcoming feature documentary George Michael Uncut has been released.

In the clip, viewers can see the likes of Elton John, Mark Ronson, John Paul Gaultier, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and many more talking about George Michael and the concept behind the iconic Freedom! ’90 music video.

Elton John sums up the legendary video by saying: “It changed the whole face of how videos were done. The video said everything. It was genius and it was a revolutionary thing.”

Naomi Campbell adds: “George pitched it to me in L.A. and his exact words were ‘You’re the leader of the gang and unless you say yes, the rest of the girls won’t.’”

Directed by David Fincher, the Freedom!’ 90 music video has been remastered in 4K in time for the release of the upcoming Uncut documentary and will play before the main feature in cinemas worldwide on 22 June.

George Michael Freedom Uncut has been described as a “deeply autobiographical feature documentary” that has been narrated by the singer himself and serves as a moving tribute to one of Britain’s greatest performers.

Throughout the film, we are given an insight into the parts of Michael’s life: his very public music career and his private personal life that was never really captured by the cameras.

Michael was very much involved in making this documentary before his tragic passing in 2016, and it will also feature those in the industry that were closest to him, including Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Ricky Gervais, Nile Rogers, Mark Ronson, Tracey Emin, Liam Gallagher, Mary J. Blige, Jean-Paul Gaultier, James Corden, Tony Bennett, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campell, Linda Evangelista and Tatjana Patitz.

Meanwhile, Sony Music recently announced they will be releasing a deluxe, limited-edition box set to celebrate George’s iconic album Older.

Included in this box set will be a newly mastered version of the album on vinyl and CD, along with three additional CDs full of new mixes of the classic songs.

It will also include the album ‘Upper’ for the first time on vinyl, along with a CD version.

George Michael Freedom Uncut will hit cinemas on Wednesday 22nd June, and tickets will be available to buy on 27th April here.
