Line of Duty fans are loving the photo that Martin Compston has posted on Twitter, which shows the gang back together.

The picture shows the Scottish actor, who played AC-12 inspector Steve Arnott, having a lovely old time at the pub on Tuesday evening (June 7th) with his LoD castmates, Vicky McClure (who played Kate Fleming), and Adrian Dunbar (who played quote-machine Ted Hastings).

And the trio were joined by the show’s creator, Jed Mercurio, causing fans to wonder whether this meant that a seventh series could be on the cards. We’d really be sucking diesel if that proved to be the case!

The photo is captioned: “Talking tattoo designs.”

Series six of the Line of Duty ended in the spring of 2021, and supposedly brought the massively popular police drama to a conclusion, as the identity of the mysterious 'H' was revealed.

However, whether because of the somewhat divisive ending to the series, or simply because of the Line of Duty-shaped hole in the Sunday night telly schedule, fans have been desperate for more episodes of the hit show. So, it’s hardly surprising that the photo of the core LoD players has caused quite a stir.

One person responded to the tweet by saying: “Please please please: another series.”

Someone else added: “Mother of god, you’d better be talking new series plots/plot twists while you’re there!!!”

Another commenter also utilised one of Ted Hastings’ many catchphrases, saying: “"Sweet baby Jesus and the wee donkey.”

Martin Compston told Radio Times this week: “If Jed thinks there’s a story, we’d all love to work together again.”

He added: “There’s always ideas, but nothing concrete.”

Let’s just wait and see whether the pub hangout was indeed LoD-related, or if it was just a bunch of mates getting together for a catch-up. Fingers crossed it was the former!
