Our favourite Geordie duo Ant and Dec prank not just celebs, but also themselves (and their fans!)

Ant McPartlin shared a video of his pal and TV partner Dec Donnelly, seemingly behind the scenes of a routine work day.

In the hilarious clip shared to their joint Instagram, Ant approaches Dec while sat at his desk, and suddenly it seems Dec is in a fit of tears and seriously upset over something.

Desperately trying to hold in his laughter, Ant asks Dec: “Oh no, what’s the matter?” to which Dec replies: “What?”

“You seem really upset, is everything ok with you? What are you crying for?" Ant continues, still stifling his giggles.

Dec adds: “I’m not!” but Ant then jokes: “Who has upset you? I'll beat them up if they've upset you!”

Don’t worry though - it turns out the tears were just part of a new TikTok ‘sad face’ filter currently going viral. The filter is incredibly convincing though, with red eyes, tears streaming down the face and a sad frown over the mouth.

Ant captioned the funny video: “Having a bawl with this one #cryingfilter.”

The clip, liked over 56,000 times, sent fans into a frenzy. One viewer commented: “I’m howling!” while another said: “That's horrific but hilarious.”

One fan even shared concern, writing: “Ohhh my poor Dec u look so sad wipe those tears … Ant stop pranking him with these filters.”

The video comes fresh off the BAFTA TV Award win over the weekend - in which Saturday Night Takeaway walked away with Best Entertainment Programme.

The variety show, created by the pair, has been a firm favourite with viewers since it first premiered on ITV in 2002 and then again in 2013 with its whacky challenges and celebrity guests.

Speaking to virginradio.co.uk and other press after winning Best Entertainment Programme at the BAFTAs on Sunday (8 May), Dec revealed what was in store for the hit show.

He said: “We’re already starting on the 19th [series] next year. We’re just going to keep going as long as we can. As long as the knees hold out and the back holds out, we’ll keep going.

“We absolutely love it. It’s the show we always wanted to make, and we’re doing it now, and we absolutely love it. To still be winning awards for it 17 series on is incredible.”
