Telly’s hardman Ross Kemp isn’t opposed to some family-friendly fun while at home with his kids.
When the father-of-four isn’t travelling the world and facing danger in the name of his hard-hitting documentaries, he’s at home being a normal dad doing normal family things, which includes watching hours of children’s TV.
While attending the 2022 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday (8th May), Ross let virginradio.co.uk and other press in on his latest binge-watch, and it’s not a show we saw coming.
He told us: “I watch a lot of Paw Patrol. Not much else to be honest with you. I like to watch the news occasionally in between fights over food, Barbies, Nerf guns. Paw Patrol was big up there because it can go over a number of years.
“I wish I came up with it and I wish I had a percentage of merchandising.”
We’d love to know what a Ross Kemp version of Paw Patrol would look like, but while it’s not on the cards, the presenter is busy with another new series.
While he admitted to working on a new documentary idea, Ross is hoping to spread it out after not one, not two, but three shows out this year alone.
He continued: “I've just been doing a lot of publicity for three shows that have just gone out, because they're from different broadcasters, I have no control over when they have their broadcast. So we had a BBC show, a Sky History show and an ITV show all go out in the same month.
“I was actually sick of seeing myself on GMTV and Lorraine and BBC Breakfast and all the other stuff that you do to publicise shows.”
One of those shows was a first for the former EastEnders star. He was the host of his first quiz show, Bridge Of Lies, which aired on BBC One in March.
To prepare, Ross researched some of the best in the biz, including Bruce Forsyth.
In an interview for OK!, the TV star revealed: “I watched lots of current quiz show hosts, like Alexander Armstrong and Bradley Walsh, as well as some icons like Brucie [Bruce Forsyth] during my research, and my main takeaway from that was: if you want to be successful in this role, you’ve just got to be yourself.”
