Jennifer Aniston confirmed as The Ellen DeGeneres Show's final guest

Who else is better to see off a long-running talk show than its very first guest?

Almost 20 years since her first appearance on the debut episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Friends icon Jennifer Aniston will help close out the series.

The show is coming to an end after 19 years on 26th May, and other big names confirmed for the last taping include Billie Eilish, Oprah Winfrey, Pink, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Keith Urban. 

Including the final episode, Ellen has filmed over 3300 episodes across the almost two decades she’s been on air, but the comedian confirmed The Ellen Show was coming to an end in May 2021. 

At the time, Ellen told the Hollywood Reporter that she was stepping away as the show “wasn’t a challenge anymore.”

The departure also followed allegations of a “toxic workplace” as former employees claimed they faced intimidating behaviour on set. 

Speaking about the end of an era, Ellen recently took to Instagram to reflect on her impressive chat show legacy. 

Accompanying a photo of her sitting on the famous white sofa, Ellen wrote: “Today we taped the final episode of The Ellen Show which airs on May 26th. 

“When we started this show in 2003, the iPhone didn’t exist. Social Media didn’t exist. Gay marriage wasn’t legal. We watched the world change, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. But whatever was happening, my goal was always for the show to be a place where we could all come together and laugh for an hour.  

“Being invited into your lives has been the greatest privilege of my life and has brought me incredible joy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

The Ellen DeGeneres Show airs weekdays on ITV2 at 2pm and the final episode will air on 26th May.
