Jaffa Cakes have become a staple in the snack cupboard for many Brits, and in 2019, they were (controversially) voted as one of the country’s favourite biscuits.

The treat has become known for its classic orange flavoured centre with the spongy layer and coating of dark chocolate.

Now, McVities have turned the classic snack on its head and replaced the top layer with white chocolate for the first time ever.

After a year of requests for a white chocolate version of the nation’s beloved Jaffa cake, the company has created a limited-edition run with just 40 packs of McVitie’s White Chocolate Jaffa Cakes.

The special version of the treat will be available exclusively via the @jaffacakesofficial Instagram from 11am on Thursday, April 28, and McVities is offering fans the opportunity to get their hands on a pack via a competition.

To enter, Jaffa Cake lovers simply need to head over to the official McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Instagram and like the competition post and tag the person they would most like to share a pack of White Chocolate Jaffa Cakes.

As we mentioned, only 40 packs containing two of the limited-edition Jaffa Cakes will be up for grabs, and the competition will run until 2 May, with winners selected at random on Tuesday, May 3.

Alice Jamieson, Brand Manager at McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes said: “The Jaffanatics spoke, and we listened. We couldn’t be more excited to launch this competition and offer 40 lucky Jaffanatics the chance to see their Jaffa dreams come true and be the first to try our limited-edition White Chocolate Jaffa Cakes.”

In other chocolate news, a petition has been started to save the beloved Milky Way Crispy Roll, which is being discontinued in the UK.

The petition has now generated 1,664 signatures to date, and if you want to save the Milky Way Crispy Roll, you can sign it for yourself here.
