Dear readers, it’s here! Netflix has finally released the official trailer for the highly anticipated new season of Bridgerton due to drop onto our screens on 25 March.

Full of the usual steamy romance, the latest glimpse into season two of the Regency-era drama focuses on the Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, who is entering back into society in search of a wife.

As he tells his brother, he wants to choose a wife with his head this time and not his…heart.

Following this, the three-minute trailer sets up the new romance at the centre of the latest season, which revolves around the eldest Bridgerton brother and the Sharma sisters, who are new to the town.

Anthony first has his sights on Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), who he thinks will make a good wife, and she seems to echo his affections. The only thing in between them is her sister Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), who believes Anthony’s motives for marriage are not as pure as they appear to be.

However, the trailer teases that as Kate tries to prevent Anthony from marrying her sister, the pair begin to develop feelings for each other leading to a rather complicated love triangle.

As we hear Anthony say: “What happens when duty is in conflict with the heart’s true desire”.

Meanwhile, Lady Whistledown appears to be up to her usual antics as she narrates the voiceover for the trailer.

Queen Charlotte also seems to be cracking down on her newsletters with a renewed determination to find out her true identity.

She tells her squires at one point: “We must entrap the scribbler”.

In the new series, we will be leaving behind the romance between Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke, which was the main plotline of season one.

Even though we won’t be graced with Regé-Jean Page’s presence onscreen this time, we do catch some glimpses of Daphne and her baby throughout, suggesting she will be appearing in the second series.

Bridgerton, created by Chris Van Dusen and Shondaland, became one of Netflix’s most popular English language series when it first aired in 2020, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the new season ever since.

Bridgerton season two will air on 25 March 2022 on Netflix.
