Stuart Heritage embarked on his own mission impossible in a yearlong campaign to get Tom Cruise to send him one of his special cakes for Christmas.

The Guardian journalist had previously written about Cruise’s habit of sending chocolate coconut Bundt cakes from his favourite bakery in L.A to the most important people in his life.

This week it was also reported that Cruise had flown 300 of the infamous cakes over 5,500 miles to his crew in London.

Stuart was determined to become a recipient of the oh-so-important Bundt cake and hoped to do something that would put him on Cruise’s delivery list.

Earlier this year, the movie star shared he had once eaten so much chocolate cake that he threw up, and Stuart saw his chance to make an impression.

The journalist wrote that he deserved a cake from Cruise because he was better at eating cake than the movie star was.

He went one step further and said he could prove his cake-eating abilities by devouring the whole thing in one go whilst sitting on the toilet.

Well, it seemed this challenge impressed Tom.

In an article posted today (13 December) on The Guardian, Stuart wrote, quite casually: “Anyway, Cruise sent me a cake this week.”

The story doesn’t stop there.

In August this year, Cruise made headlines again for eating two identical curries in a row in Birmingham, and of course, Stuart reacted in the only way he knew how- demanding a cake from the movie star.

He said: “If you had any guts, you’d send me two.”

If you ask, you shall receive because that is exactly what he got.

Two glorious Bundt cakes were delivered at the same time.

The journalist shared a picture of the beautifully wrapped box that the cake was delivered in, complete with a gold bow, rhinestone reindeer, and a note, reading: “To Stuart Heritage, warmest wishes to you this holiday season, Tom Cruise.”

Stuart admitted he first thought it was a prank, but the moment he could smell the glorious coconut and chocolate wafting from inside, he knew it was true.

As for the taste, Stuart said he was pleasantly surprised, given the cakes had travelled so far to be with him.

He described them as a: “soft, silky, luxurious thing, so impossible rich it almost defies description."

He even went as far as to say it was possibly the best cake he had ever eaten.

The journalist, astounded by the Cruise’s generosity, vowed to repay him by eating both cakes whilst sitting on the toilet and not stopping until he vomits down himself.

Stuart Heritage, we salute you, sir.
