After a two-year delay, Cirque du Soleil is coming to the UK with their gorgeous new arena show, Coreto.

For the first time, the theatre company will be coming to the UK to showcase their new show, Corteo, which is about a clown who pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival-like atmosphere. The whole time he is being watched quietly by angels.

The production, directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, first premiered in 2005. Since then, it has been transformed into an arena show and toured around 20 countries, watched by over 9 million people.

Corteo, which means cortege in Italian, is full of what you would usually expect from Cirque du Soleil- insane acrobatics, comedy and illusion.

In this production, the stage will be in the centre of the arena- dividing the venue with each half of the audience facing each other.

Mike Newquist, Senior Vice President, Touring Shows Division, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that we are finally able to bring Corteo to the UK.

“For two years, our performers have been waiting to experience the joy of the audience once again, and excitingly with the unique staging of Corteo, for the first time, the audience will also get to see and feel the show from the performer’s perspective.

“It will be an emotional and magical return.”

Cirque du Soleil is probably best known for its infamous Vegas show. The company started in 1984 with 20 street performers and has been credited with reinventing circus arts, becoming a world leader in live entertainment.

Tickets for the event are currently on pre-sale for Cirque Club members, and general sale goes live on 17 December at 9am on Live Nation.

The tour will begin in Dublin on 6 July 2022 and will continue across the country, stopping in London, Manchester, Glasgow and ending in Birmingham on 23 October.
