Who knew that banana bread beer would be a thing?

Cast your mind back to March 2020, and it seemed that the whole world was suddenly baking banana bread and sourdough.

If you never got round to it (or just got bored) Lidl has created something different for summer.

Behold, a banana bread beer.

It's one of more than 20 British varieties, just in time for summer.

The Banana Bread Beer is a 5.2% ale.

The beer is made in the UK in Bedford at Eagle Brewery, and is described as being “rich and fruity” with a “banoffee flavour” and “rich malt blend and peppery hops.”

Yum! Even better, it's made from fairtrade bananas.

It's part of the British Craft Beer Festival 2021 selection.

Other varieties include including a tropical one with “stone fruit and mango flavours” called Luminous Nights, from 71 Brewing.

How about a Baltic Berliner? Created by Liverpool’s Love Lane Brewing offers “tart raspberries, blueberries and blackcurrants” in its variety.

Bubble Trouble Pale Ale is also in the offering, from one of the only female-owned breweries, Boss Brewing, of Wales.

This one has a pink bubble gum taste for a “nostalgic 70s flavour combination.”

Prices start from £1.29 and the range is available in stores now.
