Pierce Brosnan is putting on his superhero cape for the first time ever. The former Bond star is taking on the role of Doctor Fate in Black Adam and will be donning a Lycra leotard alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock' Johnson.

The Rock is taking on the role of anti-hero Black Adam in the movie which stars Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi and Aldis Hodge.

Dating back to 1940, Doctor Fate – otherwise known as Kent Nelson – is one of DC’s oldest heroes, hardly seen on screen.

Due for release in 2022 with production starting soon there will also be appearances from characters Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher.

The Rock has been getting in shape for his upcoming role and told fans on social media about his unenviable diet plan including white eggs, beef tenderloin, oatmeal with blueberries and gluten-free English muffins, Stevia and cinnamon plus powdered greens, a fibre drink and a can of his very own ZOA Energy.

He said: "One month away from shooting #blackadam so the diet is very strict and all food is weighed and measured.

"This prep has been a long one (since 2020), but all the pieces are coming together, and as always, I’m staying flexible to any changes and pivots that need to happen along the way.

"Script, production, strength and conditioning, diet etc etc. Enjoy the weekend with your families and remember, diet is the key."
