Haven't you always wanted to understand all the fancy Line of Duty lingo and know your TFCs from your REGs and your CHISs from your MOPIs? With the return of the new series 6, here's a complete list of all the bits you need to grasp if you're a diehard fan.

Here’s what you might hear being muttered by Fleming, Arnott and Hastings this season and what the team are actually on about.

CHIS – Covert Human Intelligence Source (an undercover agent who is recruited by the police but isn’t a police officer)

DC – Detective Constable

MIT– Major Investigation Teams (specialised homicide squads of the Metropolitan Police)

DIR – Digital Interview Recording

AC-12 – Anti-Corruption Unit 12

MOPI – Management of Police Information

OCG – Organised Crime Group

UCO – Undercover Operative

AFO – Authorised Firearms Officer

ARV – Armed Response Vehicle

TFC – Tactical Firearms Officer

REG-15 – A notice telling an officer that a complaint has been made against them

SFC – Strategic Firearms Commander

FI – Forensic Investigator

IOPC  – Independent Officer for Police Conduct

PACE – Police and Criminal Evidence Act

RIPA – Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000
