You can almost smell the popcorn already, can't you?

Cineworld have revealed plans for reopening after lockdown. If you're missing the big screen, you could be back as soon as May 17th.

Cineworld chief executive Mooky Greidinger has confirmed the plans.

They are reopening in the US first of all, with cinemas opening up again April 2.

The CEO also announced a new deal between Cineworld and Warner Bros has just been agreed.

The new plan gives Cineworld a 31-day exclusivity period, to screen Warner Brother titles before they are put out onto streaming platforms.

Cinemas in the US will only be able to have theatres half full under Covid guidelines. However, Cineworld said it would still be able to operate profitably.

Mooky Greidinger, chief executive, said: “With the health and safety of our customers, staff, and communities as our top priority, we continue to take all the necessary precautions and abide by our CinemaSafe guidelines to confidently provide a safe and comfortable experience."

Greidinger said in a statement obtained by “We are very happy for the agreement with Warner Bros,”

“This agreement shows the studio’s commitment to the theatrical business and we see this agreement as an important milestone in our 100-year relationship with Warner Bros.”

All 127 Cineworld sites across the UK and Ireland closed indefinitely last October.

The decision came following delays to many blockbuster movies people have been waiting for, including James Bond film .

The likes of Disney have released some of their biggest new films like the live-action Mulan and Raya And The Last Dragon straight to Disney Plus.

Cineworld has 9548 screens in 793 sites around the world.
