This is a genius idea when you think about it. Many people have tattoos for fashion reasons, but how many have ones that are actually useful?

A student was frustrated with her inability to tell left from right, so she had the brainwave to get the letters tattooed onto her hands for an instant (and permanent) reminder,

D’Kodia Laine is from Canberra in Australia, and she decided to get L and R tattoos on her hands to remind herself of the correct way round.

The tattoo was done by Lauren Winzer at Hunter & Fox, a studio in Alexandria.

D’Kodia said she was embarrassed that she had to hold her hands up in the L shape to tell the difference.

It all came to a head when she was picked to be team leader during a scavenger hunt at a party.

Now, with the added inkings she just has to glance at her hands to know the difference, and says it's especially useful while driving,

Tattoo artist Lauren shared an image of her new work on D’Kodia on her Instagram.

It quickly gained thousands of likes. The artist wrote a caption saying: ‘Not only are tattoos cute, but they can also be super functional!!! Good luck with all your future directions, happy to help guide you.’

Plenty of commenters loves the idea and wanted it for themselves.

‘Have I not said I wanted this done?!’ Another added: ‘I see I’m not the only person who needs this’.

Do you think it's a good idea?
