Footage of Nigella Lawson saying "microwave" has been making the internet smile since the latest episode aired on Monday.

The clip soon went viral, as she says it in an unusual way. Fans tweeted in their droves to ask if she said it intentionally, which at first Nigella played along with confirming that is how she says the word.

It seems the joke has gone over the heads of many and it's now wearing thin, as now the TV chef has tweeted asking for it to stop.

She tweeted: "Well, I do say it like that, but not because I think that’s how it’s actually pronounced" followed by "Can this be the end of it now?"

Nigella still has a sense of humour though as one fan asked how she pronounces "Worcestershire".

Then a fan tweeted this graphic that Nigella admitted had made her laugh, and couldn't help sharing it.

In case you missed it, here it is once more:

Please never change, Nigella.
