He's made his name for going above and beyond for our four-legged friends, but Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick has now written a new book called
Prof. Fitzpatrick joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky this morning to talk about the new memoir, about what it’s like to actually The Supervet.
Noel shares the moving and often funny stories of the animals he’s treated and the unique ‘animal people’ he has met along the way, including Peanut, the world’s first cat with two front bionic limbs, eight-year-old therapy dachshund Olive, and Odin, a 5-year-old Dobermann - one of Noel’s most challenging cases.
Noel told Chris how the idea for the book came about: "I would like to say that this book was written from a place where I was trying to find the truth in myself".
He explained: "I've made a lot of mistakes in life, I've made a lot of ups and downs that needn't have happened. But in some ways, they happen for a reason, like all of our ups and downs", he said honestly.
Noel continues: "In doing that, I think that there's only one thing that keeps us going, and that is love. That love is reflected in the fact we care about each other, what we care about, our friends, our family and the people we love."
He carried on about the importance of love: "It's reflected as an emotional bypass stent in every animal we meet, that allows us to bypass all the blockages that keep us from being the best that we are, and allows us to be the best version that we could be. That is why I wrote How Animals Saved My Life".
Noel hopes the book will be helpful: "I just wanted to write a book that meant something to everybody out there that was feeling a bit sad or lonely, we're going through difficult times."
"I just wanted it to mean something to everybody, whether they liked dogs or cats or not" he says. "Whoever they are, wherever they come from, whatever colour they are, whatever sexuality they are, whatever nationality they are, dogs and cats don't care."
How Animals Saved My Life: Being The Supervet
