The venue has pulled out of hosting Woodstock 50.
The event was due to take place at New York racetrack, Watkins Glen International and they released a statement reading: “Watkins Glen International terminated the site license for Woodstock pursuant to provisions of the contract. As such, WGI will not be hosting the Woodstock 50 Festival.”
Woodstock 50 organisers have made it clear that despite the setback the festival will go ahead as planned.
A spokesperson said, “We are in discussions with another venue to host Woodstock 50 on August 16—18 and look forward to sharing the new location when tickets go on sale in the coming weeks.”
It has not been the first setback Woodstock 50 has faced, back in April the festival’s primary funding partner Dentsu Aegis Network withdrew all of their financial commitments and even announced the cancellation of the festival themselves.
Despite The Black Keys pulling out of their set and tickets sales being postponed, officials are adamant that Woodstock will return to New York in August.
