David Bowie didn't appear in Lord Of The Rings because he was 'too busy'

Apparently David Bowie didn't appear in the Lord Of The Rings film trilogy because he was "too busy". 

This is according to Dominic Monaghan - the actor who played the hobbit Merry - in a recent interview. 

He told the story of how he was doing auditions for the film in a casting agency office when the star came in, signed the list, and went through. 

However, the trilogy's casting director Amy Hubbard dismissed this, saying Bowie never actually auditioned for the film because he had clashing commitments with the filming schedule.

She said: “He was unavailable."

"Bowie went over and played for everybody at the Millennium party. He entertained everybody, but he never auditioned. That’s for sure.”
