“I’m not going anywhere,” says Alex Jones as her co-star faces the axe.
Alex Jones, the beloved face of BBC’s The One Show, has set the record straight about her future on the iconic green sofa, declaring she has "no intention of leaving" anytime soon.
The presenter, who’s been a fixture on the show since 2010, expressed her love for the job in a candid interview on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, just as her co-host Jermaine Jenas faces the chop over a scandal that’s left fans reeling.

“I can’t believe I’m still here,” Alex confessed with a hint of her signature Welsh charm. “I just go in, do the job, and hope no one notices I’m still there. I just love it.”
Despite whispers that she might be ready for a new challenge, Alex seems perfectly content with her role on The One Show and isn’t in any rush to jump ship.
“People ask a lot: ‘What do you want to do next? Don’t you want to do a big entertainment show?’ I’m like: ‘What do you mean?’ I’m really happy,” she explained, brushing off any notion that she’s eyeing a new gig.
For Alex, it’s all about staying power. “All new projects are exciting and a new challenge, but actually, it would be really amiss of anybody to overlook the bread and butter.
"All the extra bits are really fun and exciting, but actually, for me, longevity is key,” she added.
It’s clear that after 14 years on the sofa, Alex is right where she wants to be—at the heart of the nation’s favourite evening show.
Meanwhile, her co-host Jermaine Jenas has found himself in hot water after allegations about his behavior came to light, leading to his sudden departure from the show.
Just 24 hours after the news broke, the former footballer gave a remorseful interview, admitting he was "ashamed" of his actions but maintained that his interactions were with "two consenting adults."
"I have let myself down, my family, friends, and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology—especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry," Jermaine told The Scottish Sun.
The former footballer, who was once in the running to replace Gary Lineker on Match of the Day, insisted that while his actions were inappropriate, they were not illegal and did not involve any explicit content.
However, he did confess to “cheating” on his wife, Ellie Penfold, whom he’s been married to for 13 years, though he was quick to clarify that “nothing physical ever happened.”
Jermaine’s admission of guilt didn’t stop there. In a moment of self-reflection, he acknowledged his struggles, saying: “I think it would be fair to say I have a problem. I know I self-sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.”
As Jermaine seeks redemption, Alex remains the steadfast, reassuring presence that The One Show viewers have come to rely on.
With her infectious enthusiasm and unwavering commitment, it’s no wonder she’s in no rush to move on from the show that’s become a staple of British television.
After all, as Alex herself might say, why fix something that’s not broken?
