Sinitta says Simon Cowell has got married in secret

Has there been wedding bells on the sly for Simon Cowell? Best friend Sinitta certainly seems to think so.

Chances are it was meant to be kept a secret, but long-time friend Sinitta has let slip the good news.

It seems congratulations are in order for the music mogul, after the singer claimed he has wed Lauren Silverman following a three year engagement.

Simon and Sinitta previously dated for two years, ending in 1984. They they had an on-off relationship for more than 20 years, and the star often appeared on the X Factor alongside him.

Simon got engaged to Lauren back in 2021.

Woman Magazine asked Sinitta if Simon had set a date for the big day.

She replied: "Oh, are they not married yet?”

She added: "I’m not saying anything, but I’m sure they are married. I call her Mrs Cowell anyway, so they may as well be.”

Lauren was previously married to one of Simon's good friends, Andrew Silverman.

They met after Andrew introduced the pair back in 2006 and they would regularly holiday together.

Lauren and Simon had a son together, called Eric, in 2014.

Simon proposed during their Barbados holiday in 2021 on Christmas Eve.

A source told The Sun: "Simon and Lauren are ridiculously, nauseatingly in love - incredibly, lockdown brought them closer than ever.

“Lauren was absolutely stunned and never in a million years expected Simon to pop the question.

"She burst into tears - happy tears - and obviously said ‘yes’ straight away.

“It was important to Simon that the kids were there too, as he adores them both and the family they’ve become.

“Lauren has been Simon’s rock over these past few years - supporting him when he broke his back, and through thick and thin generally.

"They make a wonderful couple.

“Whilst Simon never thought he was the marrying type, he’s realised he’s met the woman of his dreams - and couldn’t be happier.

"In the words of Beyoncé, it was time to put a ring on it.”

Simon revealed that Eric was also involved in the proposal: "One hundred percent he had to coach me. And we planned it. He was a big part of it."
