As anticipation builds ahead of the third film in the Paddington series, it turns out that the marmalade-loving bear is hitting cinema screens earlier than expected.

Paddington in Peru is due to arrive in November, but, to get everyone back up to speed with where the story is at, the first two films are back in cinemas beforehand.

Yes, if you want to watch Paddington 1 and Paddington 2 on the big screen, then you’ll be excited to learn that both the 2014 original movie and its 2017 sequel will be back in cinemas in October.

The first film in the franchise saw our hero travel to London from the jungles of Peru. Once in the big smoke he was adopted by the Brown family and went on many adventures. All the while, dastardly taxidermist Millicent Clyde (played by Nicole Kidman) tries her utmost to capture him.

The massively-acclaimed second movie focused on Paddington’s incarceration after he was framed and imprisoned for a burglary that he did not commit. Hugh Grant delivered an incredible performance as the villainous Phoenix Buchanan.

Arriving in UK cinemas on 8th November, 2024, the third film will see Paddington (once again voiced by This is Going to Hurt’s Ben Whishaw) head back to Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy in a home for retired bears, and the Browns are along for the ride.

Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville, Mamma Mia and Educating Rita’s Julie Walters will be back, as will Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin.

Imelda Staunton will once again voice Aunt Lucy.

However, Sally Hawkins will be replaced as Mrs Brown by Emily Mortimer due to scheduling issues.

Oscar-winner Olivia Colman makes her debut in the series as a nun, and Antonio Banderas also features.

Paddington in Peru is the first film in the series not to be directed by Paul King, as music video and former John Lewis advert director Dougal Wilson takes over.

However, whilst he is not directing this time, King has still collaborated on the story with Ghosts star Simon Farnaby and fellow writer Mark Burton.

Paddington in Peru will be released in UK cinemas on 8th November 2024. Paddington and Paddington 2 will be in cinemas in October 2024.
