When is Slow Horses season 4 out?

It has been announced that Slow Horses season 4 will premiere on 4th September.

The series will stream on Apple TV+.

News was shared on Apple TV's official X account. The post read: "It's easy to keep little secrets… but dangerous to spill explosive ones."

Can I watch Slow Horses seasons 1-3?

Yes, Slow Horses seasons 1-3 are available to stream now on Apple TV+.

Season 4 will also stream on the platform, and it will be followed by a fifth season of the hit crime drama.

Who will be in Slow Horses season 4?

As you would expect, the legend that is Gary Oldman will be back as Jackson Lamb, while Jack Lowden reprises his role as River Cartwright.

Kristin Scott Thomas returns as Diana Taverner, and Saskia Reeves will once again play Catherine Standish.

Aimee-Ffion Edwards is Shirley Dander, Kadiff Kirwan will once again play Marcus Longridge, and Christopher Chung is back as Roddy Ho.

Meanwhile, Rosalind Eleazar returns as Louisa Guy and Jonathan Pryce is David Cartwright.

Newcomers include The Matrix star Hugo Weaving as Frank Harkness, Ruth Bradley as Emma Flyte, James Callis as Claude Whelan, Joanna Scanlan as Moira Tregorian, and Tom Brooke as J.K. Coe.

What happened at the end of Slow Horses season 3?

Standish had been kidnapped by the tiger team that went rogue, after it had been hired on the orders of Home Secretary Peter Judd to show MI5's security weaknesses.

Diana Tavener planned for files - which unveiled the truth behind Ingrid Tearney's involvement in a failed operation in Istanbul -  to be leaked and cause her downfall.

River and Louisa were stuck in the facility where the files were, along with some of the tiger team, with Tearney's armed MI5 operatives advancing with orders to kill anyone inside. River and Louisa managed, however, to escape with the help of Shirley and Marcus.

River got the files out of the facility and took them to his grandfather David, who told him that, to protect the reputation of the security services, they had to be destroyed. He threw them into the fire.

But River had already made copies of the files, which he then leaked.

Meanwhile, Jackson Lamb and Roddy rescued Catherine, However, during an argument, Jackson revealed that Charles was a traitor who spent a decade selling secrets to the Russians. He said Charles kept Catherine on as his secretary because she was always too notice, and that he laid a trail to blame Catherine.

Furious, Catherine quit Slough House and got out of the car.

Shirley and Marcus got their jobs back, while Tearney was forced to quit hers, meaning that Diana took over as the new director general.

What will happen in Slow Horses season 4?

A very short synopsis has revealed that the fourth season will "open with a bombing that detonates personal secrets, rocking the already unstable foundations of Slough House".

If season 4 follows the plot of Mick Herron's novel, Spook Street, then there will be more focus on River’s grandad, who - 20 years retired from the Intelligence Service - “still knows where all the bones are buried. But when he forgets that secrets are supposed to stay hidden, there's suddenly a target on his back.

“Lamb worked with Cartwright back in the day, and knows better than most that this is no innocent old man.”

As yet though, we don’t know how closely the new season will follow the plot of the book.

Is there a trailer for Slow Horses season 4?

Kind of.

As well as there having been a teaser at the end of season 3 and pictures in the post announcing the release date, Apple TV+ have shared some glimpses of the new season as part of their “coming up” reel.

What are the cast saying about Slow Horses?

Speaking with virginradio.co.uk and other press on the red carpet of the BAFTA TV Awards 2024, Jonathan Pryce and Saskia Reeves both explained how delighted but also surprised they were by the show’s success

Asked whether they predicted how successful the spy thriller black comedy show would be when originally signing on to the project, Pryce shared: “I didn’t. At the beginning I had no idea how big it would become.

“But that’s in some ways a good thing for all of us,” The Crown star added. “Because we were very focused on making that story and that script rather than fulfilling what an audience might want.”

Reeves agreed, explaining: “I knew it was going to be successful, but I didn’t realise it was going to be this popular.”

However, the pair’s fellow Slow Horses co-star and red carpet companion, Chris Reilly, who plays Nick Duffy in the show, said: “As soon as I read the script I thought it would be a big hit.”Exploring what she thinks has connected so well with audiences, Reeves suggested: “There’s something about the English grottiness of it that as an English person, we all go ‘Oh yeah no, that’s really familiar.’
