The cast surprised fans at a press conference announcing the early arrival and answering some questions.

Fans had been hoping for romance between head chef Carmy and his sous chef, Syd.

Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri were asked whether the relationship between the two characters had the potential for romance.

They kept it simple with an answer of "no".

The panel were also asked about the relationship between Carmy and his colleague, family friend and “cousin”, Richie.

Richie is played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who answered: “They’re great now.”

White added: “Carmy is continuing to do what he does best, which is be incredibly avoidant of all the issues.”

The show's executive producer and co-writer Matty Matheson elaborated: “There’s little pieces that you grab on to in life and that’s what makes you who you are, the good and the bad.

“It is a trade, and so I think picking up these little skills along the way, you never stop learning who you are made of, the people around you. We wanted to tell a story of what and how Carmy was kind of built in that way.”

Edebiri has also directed episode six of season three, titled ‘Napkins’.

Fans recently praised the star for behind-the-scenes footage of her voicing a character for Inside Out 2.
