Could Mick Carter be heading back to Albert Square? Here’s why fans think so!

EastEnders aficionados are beside themselves with excitement, convinced that their beloved Mick Carter, played by the one and only Danny Dyer, might be making a dramatic return to Albert Square.

The whispers and theories among the show's fans have reached a fever pitch recently.

With Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) grappling through Father's Day without her beloved Mick, viewers have picked up on what they believe are clues suggesting his return.

The question on everyone’s lips: Is Danny Dyer really coming back to EastEnders?

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw has fueled the speculation fire by teasing that Mick might not be as gone as everyone thinks.

Reflecting on the big Christmas death reveal, which saw Keanu (Danny Walters) exiting the soap, Clenshaw hinted: "It's a soap, anything can happen! There wasn't a body so there's every chance. Will Mick rock back up in Walford in a few years covered in seaweed?"

Danny Dyer himself has kept the hope alive, playfully suggesting: "If it goes t*ts up I can go back. I can turn up in three years’ time, walk in the Queen Vic smothered in seaweed…"

He’s also expressed gratitude for his time on the show, saying it "really did change my career and my life."

Comparisons to the legendary Harold Bishop from Neighbours, who famously returned from the dead, have not been lost on Dyer.

He humorously noted: "A few people have mentioned him to me because he died, didn't he? And then he came back, washed up funnily enough... he lost his memory."

Fans are buzzing with theories. Some believe Mick could return to reunite with Linda, driven by guilt over everything that has transpired.

Others think a memory loss storyline, much like Harold Bishop's, could be Mick's ticket back to the Square.

The actor’s portrayal of Mick Carter left a significant mark on the show, making his departure a couple of years ago a bittersweet moment for many.

Reflecting on his exit, Dyer previously shared: "I didn't quite know how [Mick's final scenes were] gonna go down. I felt my character had lost his way. I didn't quite know who I was playing anymore, it was a really odd thing."

While Dyer is appreciative of the role that 'changed his career and life,' he expressed a desire to move on, saying: "It was a good gig, but now it's time to move on. I wanna get out again and make some low-budget films."

However, the door remains open for a potential return, and fans are eagerly awaiting any hint or confirmation.

For now, EastEnders fans will continue to speculate and hope. Will Mick Carter make a triumphant return to Albert Square, perhaps with a seaweed-covered entrance or a case of amnesia? Only time will tell.
