Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe had the Tony Award audience in bits over his emotional speech directed to partner Erin Darke and young son.

On Sunday night (16th June), Daniel landed his first-ever Tony Prize for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for Merrily We Roll Along. He stars alongside Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez in Stephen Sondheim’s revived musical.

Taking to the stage at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, The Lost City actor teared up as he spoke about his love for Erin and their son

Getting choked up at the podium, Daniel said: “'My love, Erin. You and our son are the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you so much. Thank you so much.”

The stage and screen star has been with Erin since 2012, and the couple welcomed their son in April 2023. The couple have remained private about their relationship and their family.

Elsewhere, Daniel also tried to hold back tears during the rest of his acceptance speech, telling the audience: "Thank you so much. Okay, I'm going to just talk fast and try not to cry.

“Thank you so much to the Broadway league and the American theatre wing for this unbelievable honour...  This has been one of the best experiences of my life.  Thank you for thinking of me for this. It's been unbelievable.

"Thank you so much to our cast, everybody on that stage.  It's an honour to be on stage with you every single night, and I will miss it so much. Speaking of missing things, Jonathan, Lindsay, I will miss you so much.”

Daniel continued: “I don't really have to act in this show, I just have to look at you and feel everything I want to feel. I will never have it this good again.”

Elsewhere during the Tony Awards ceremony, Eddie Redmayne turned into Cabaret’s The Emcee for a performance of the musical’s number Willkommen.

Unfortunately for the Oscar winner, he didn’t take home the Tony prize for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, which instead went to Radcliffe’s co-star Jonathan Groff.

Merrily We Roll Along became one of the big winners of the night, picking up Best Revival of a Musical and Best Orchestrations to take home four prizes.

American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson picked up the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for Appropriate, which also won Best Revival of a Play.

Succession actor Jeremy Strong took home the Best Actor in a Play award equivalent for his role in An Enemy of the People, while Stereophonic took home five prizes including Best Play.
