Sir Rod Stewart and David Beckham share a laugh at The King’s Foundation event as Rod jokes about David’s future knighthood.
Get ready for a knight to remember! Rock legend Sir Rod Stewart couldn’t resist poking fun at football superstar David Beckham during a recent event for The King’s Foundation.
The cheeky comment had everyone in stitches and gave us all a glimpse of the camaraderie between these two British icons.

During the event at The King’s Foundation, an education charity aiming to create better communities, Sir Rod and his wife, Lady Penny Lancaster, joined King Charles III and Beckham in celebrating their roles as ambassadors.
"Penny and I are so honoured to be ambassadors," Sir Rod declared to the delighted audience, which included Beckham and the King himself.
Lady Penny crossed herself in mock solemnity, while Sir Rod couldn’t resist slipping in some colourful language—classic Stewart!
Turning to Beckham, Sir Rod dropped the bombshell joke: "I'm also wonderfully honoured to be a knight and David, yours is coming soon."
The room erupted in laughter as Beckham, ever the good sport, wiped his eyes while chuckling at the jest.
Beckham, who received an OBE in 2003, has been a standout ambassador for The King’s Foundation, recently expressing his excitement about his new role.
"I've always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I'm particularly looking forward to supporting the foundation's education programs and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature," he said. A true testament to his commitment to the cause!
King Charles welcomed Beckham with open arms, even throwing in a light-hearted jibe about England’s unexpected defeat to Iceland in a recent Euros warm-up match. It seems even royalty can’t resist a bit of football banter!
In May, Beckham had the privilege of visiting The King’s Highgrove home, where the two bonded over their shared interests. They didn't just talk shop about the charity—they also swapped beekeeping tips!
Beckham revealed: "Having developed a love for the countryside, I'm also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the foundation's work.
"It was inspiring to hear from the King about the work of His Majesty's foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens - and compare beekeeping tips!"
It's clear that both Sir Rod and Beckham are passionate about their ambassador roles and the positive impact they can have through The King’s Foundation.
The joking jibe comes as part of a series of recent pokes by Stewart at other stars, including Ed Sheeran.
Despite Sheeran being the singer-songwriter behind some of the last couple of decades' biggest hits such as 'The A Team', 'Thinking Out Loud' and 'Perfect', it appears the MBE holder has failed to make a good impression on Sir Rod.
Speaking with The Times, Stewart was brought onto the topic of Sheeran while discussing the future of the current music industry.
Asked which artists he thinks are making timeless songs that will outlast their popularity today, Stewart responded: “I like whatshisname,” realising embarrassedly that he couldn’t recall the artist on his mind’s name.
So, while we wait for Beckham’s inevitable knighthood (because, let's face it, if Rod Stewart says it's coming, it must be true), we can enjoy watching these legends of music and sport come together to make a difference.
Keep your eyes peeled, Sir David Beckham might just be the next royal announcement!
