Cameras have officially started rolling on Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man, and it seems Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc will go through something of a transformation for the crime sequel.

Just a few weeks on since the reveal of the next Knives Out mystery, we’ve had an endless stream of massive names being announced to join Blanc on his next whodunit, including Marvel star Jeremy Renner, Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny.

Now, fans are being given the very first look at how Benoit has changed since 2022’s Glass Onion, and it seems the eccentric crime-fighter will sport a striking new look for his next case.

In the monochrome photo, Craig dons a new hair do, with longer locks than what audiences are used to. Still the same as ever is Blanc’s sharp fashion sense, with the former Bond actor wearing a stylish three-piece suit.

Sharing the image on X, returning director Rian Johnson wrote: “Aaaaand we’re off! Today is day 1 of shooting on the next Benoit Blanc mystery “Wake Up Dead Man” - see you on the other side.”

Wake Up Dead Man will land on Netflix in 2025, three years after his last turn as private investigator Blanc, having last appeared alongside Edward Norton and  Kate Hudson in Glass Onion in 2022.

Fans first met Blanc during the critically acclaimed whodunnit Knives Out in 2019, in which he was hired to investigate the death of best-selling author Harlan Thrombey, played by the late Christopher Plummer in one of his final film appearances.

Glass Onion followed the curious crime fighter to a private Greek Island after being invited by a tech billionaire (Norton) to solve a murder mystery game gone wrong.

Director Johnson made the big announcement about Dead Man Wake Up on his social media, writing back during May’s Knives Out 3 confirmation: “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is.

“There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”

Johnson then confirmed Craig and the currently unconfirmed cast are “about to go into production” and fans should use their own detective skills on the movie’s title as it “gives a little hint of where it’s going.”

Knives Out 3 also comes with a very impressive cast list, with Craig, O’Connor and Renner joining Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
