Today’s news also reveals which professional dancers will be returning to the show - with some notable comebacks as well as absences in the confirmed list.

Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola will all be taking to the dancefloor to perform in 2024.

There has since been a few updates, with Graziano Di Prima being axed from the show, and Aljaž Škorjanec making a comeback to the Strictly line-up.

This confirms that Giovanni Pernice who was reported to have quit Strictly Come Dancing after facing scrutiny for his reportedly harsh behaviour during training will not seemingly be back to perform this year.

It also reveals the welcome news that Welsh dancer Amy Dowden is hoping to make a triumphant return to the show after her various health struggles last year.

Celebrating today (10th June)’s first bit of Strictly 2024 news in a statement, the series’ executive producer Sarah James said: “This year Strictly marks two decades of entertaining the nation and we will be back with a bang in September as we celebrate in style with our incredible team both on and off screen.”

Today’s Strictly news also informed viewers that a special 20th birthday one-off show will be aired on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the future which will look back on Strictly Come Dancing’s 20 years of “unforgettable entertainment” and “iconic performances”, which will feature “plenty of heart-warming interviews with past celebrity stars, professional dancers, and judges too.”

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer on September 2024.
