Taskmaster has unveiled the next batch of comedians undertaking hilarious challenges for series 18.

Last night (30th May) saw the grande finale of series 17, where Nick Mohammed, Joanne McNally, Steve Pemberton, John Robins and Sophie Willan battled it out for the last time to impress the TM himself, Greg Davies and side-kick (Little) Alex Horne.

With a majorly impressive 192 points, comedian John Robins lifted the infamous Greg Davies trophy, but there was only 21 points between him and runner-up Joanne.

Inside No. 9 creator Steve landed in third place with 153 points, followed by Alma’s Not Normal star Sophie with 144.

He might’ve come in last, but Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed got a stellar round of applause after correctly predicting his final score during the prize task round at the very start of the show.

While one Taskmaster door closes, another one opens as the series finale always leads right into the announcement of who the next willing selection of entertainers will be.

Series 18 gave off a new nautical theme in the preview footage, which revealed that Andy Zaltzman, Babatunde Aléshé, Emma Sidi, Jack Dee and Rosie Jones will tackle the wild and wonderful tasks in the next run of episodes. No set date for series 18 has been announced just yet, so watch this space!

Zaltzman is a stand-up comedian working mainly with politics and sports and previously collaborated with John Oliver on Political Animal, The Department, and The Bugle.

I’m A Celeb viewers will recognise Aléshé after he appeared in the 2022 series, spending 18 days in the jungle. He’s also appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox, Richard Osman’s House of Games and Doctor Who.

Meanwhile, actress and comedian Sidi starred opposite Taskmaster alumni Rose Matafao in Starstruck, as well as Death in Paradise, Extraordinary and Ghosts.

Dee is making somewhat of a comeback after not being on TV since appearing in Bad Move in 2018. He’s of course best known for his stand up on Live at the Apollo as well as being a team captain on Shooting Stars.

A regular on panel shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats QI and The Last Leg, Jones also became a fan-favourite on Call The Midwife earlier this year and has previously written for shows including Would I Lie to You?
