If you thought you knew everything about the My Heart Will Go On singer, think again.

This documentary peels back the curtain to reveal the intimate struggles and triumphs of a woman who has been an unwavering beacon of talent and resilience in the music industry.

Since 2022, Dion has been candid about her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder that affects the brain and spinal cord, causing severe muscle stiffness and spasms.

“This intimate exploration takes viewers on a journey inside Celine’s past and present as she reveals her battle with stiff person syndrome and the lengths she has gone to continue performing for her beloved and loyal fans,” reads a press release about the project shared on Dion's website.

The documentary captures more than a year of filming, showing Dion's day-to-day life as she navigates the challenges of her condition while striving to live openly and authentically.

"It's not an expansive look at the life and times of the iconic pop singer, instead capturing a snapshot of a pivotal time in her career," reported Variety.

Dion's journey with SPS has halted her ability to perform, but her spirit remains unbroken.

“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me,” she shared in the press release.

Dion's determination shines through as she expresses her longing to reconnect with her fans and raise awareness about her condition.

Stiff person syndrome is a rare, progressive neurological disorder that can cause muscle stiffness and spasms triggered by noise, touch, and stress.

The National Institutes of Health describes SPS as a condition that severely impacts daily life.

Despite these challenges, Dion's resolve to continue her career remains strong.

“It’s not hard to do a show, you know. It’s hard to cancel a show,” she says in the trailer.

“I’m working hard every day. But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle. I miss it so much. The people, I miss them. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I won’t stop.”

In May 2023, Dion made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of her world tour due to her health issues.

This came after delaying the opening of her Las Vegas residency in 2021, citing 'severe and persistent muscle spasms.'

Despite these setbacks, she continues to inspire fans with her unwavering spirit.

Her triumphant return to the public eye came on February 4, 2024, when she appeared at the Grammys in Los Angeles to present the album of the year.

The crowd greeted her with a standing ovation, to which she responded: "Thank you all, I love you right back. When I say I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart."

Dion has also made other public appearances, including attending an NHL game to support her hometown team, the Montreal Canadiens.

Additionally, she played herself in the 2023 movie Love Again, providing five new songs for the soundtrack, proving that while performing live may be a challenge, her creative spirit is far from diminished.

With five Grammy Awards and over 250 million albums sold, Celine Dion's impact on the music industry is undeniable.

From her timeless hit My Heart Will Go On to the Oscar-nominated Beauty and the Beast, her voice has been a source of comfort and inspiration for millions.

As fans eagerly await the release of I AM: CELINE DION, it's clear that this documentary will not only showcase her incredible career but also her unyielding strength and resilience.

Dion’s message is clear: no matter the obstacles, her heart will indeed go on.

I Am: Celine Dion will be available to stream on Prime Video on June 25.
