With Henry Cavill having left The Witcher at the end of the third season, Liam Hemsworth has taken over the role of Geralt of Rivia, and Netflix has given fans a little taste of what to expect in the form of a short teaser trailer.

The fourth season of the massively popular show recently began production, along with the announcement that the following fifth season will be its last, and would “bring this epic series to a fitting conclusion.”

Netflix took to X to share a first glimpse of Hemsworth inhabiting the familiar character. The clip shows the Aussie actor walking with a horse, before it cuts to a closer look from behind his head, showing Geralt's trademark long white locks. He then turns towards the camera.

“The journey continues. Here's your first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher,” the post reads.

Fans were quick to comment, with one writing: “You sure that is Liam Hemsworth?? That's a very good likeness to Henry. Bravo!”

After the Continent-altering events that closed season three, the new episodes will see Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.

If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.

In a previous statement, creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said: “It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia.”

She added: “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”

Elsewhere in the cast, Joey Batey is Jaskier and Laurence Fishburne is joining as Regis.

At this stage, a release date for The Witcher season four has not been announced.
