The beloved soap star is reportedly ready to tackle the jungle after recovering from knee surgery.

Corrie fans! One of Weatherfield’s finest is reportedly gearing up to swap the cobbles for the creepy crawlies of the Australian jungle.

That’s right, a true Coronation Street legend is set to take on the trials and tribulations of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Now, before you go guessing which legendary resident of the Rovers Return might be heading Down Under, let’s set the scene.

This iconic soap star has been a fixture on Coronation Street since the late '90s and has become a fan favourite.

However, a recent injury saw him benched from the show – but it looks like he's ready to make a comeback in the most dramatic way possible.

Yes, you guessed it (or maybe you didn't), it’s none other than Alan Halsall! The actor, best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs, is reportedly in talks to join this year's I’m A Celeb after knee surgery forced him to sit out the last series.

The popular actor, who has been delighting Corrie fans for over two decades, had to skip the jungle antics that saw TV and radio personality Sam Thompson crowned King after he underwent knee surgery.

A source told The Sun: "Alan and the show bosses are just glad he’s now in a position to be part of this year’s show — though the official line-up is months away from being confirmed."

So, it seems like we might be seeing Alan swapping the greasy overalls of the garage for the gruelling Bushtucker trials.

Alan’s road to recovery hasn’t been easy. The Tyrone Dobbs actor had an ACL injury, a common knee injury that often sidelines athletes and, in this case, soap stars.

The ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament, is essential for stabilising the knee joint and can be injured by sudden stops or changes in momentum.

He shared his surgery experience on social media, posting a picture of himself in bed with his leg propped up.

He mentioned that the surgery was crucial and would require nine to twelve months of rehabilitation.

To accommodate his recovery, Tyrone was written out of the show temporarily, with his character going on holiday with his wife Fiz, played by Jennie McAlpine.

The timing of his injury couldn’t have been worse, as it coincided with his split from co-star girlfriend Tish Merry, who played Steph Britton.

The couple met on set in 2014 and started dating in 2019 after she left her role.

Their breakup happened just months after his surgery, adding emotional strain to his physical recovery.

But it looks like Alan is bouncing back. Last month, he posted on Instagram about getting back into the swing of things with his 10-year-old daughter Sienna, whom he shares with ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, another Corrie alum.

He shared a sweet picture of them enjoying the outdoors, saying: "I can’t say I’m feeling 100% but after the last several months of rain I really wanted Sienna to be outdoors and have some adventures this [bank] holiday… and we have!"

With Alan on the mend and ready for new challenges, we can only imagine the kind of adventures he’ll face in the jungle.

Will he handle the Bushtucker trials with the same grit and determination as he does with the dramas on Coronation Street?

Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – we can’t wait to see him in action!
