Sam Heughan has just turned 44, and his Outlander pals have made a fuss of him at work.

The actor celebrated his birthday yesterday (April 30th) while working on the final season of Outlander. During a table read, his colleagues surprised him with a cake.

The clips show a cake being carried into the room as everyone sings Happy Birthday and then gives him a big old cheer when he blows the candles out (pictured, above).

The actor, who plays Jamie Fraser in the series, shared a bunch of his colleagues’ posts on his Instagram Stories, including one from Sophie Skelton, who plays his character’s daughter Brianna Fraser.

Elsewhere, My Peak Challenge, which was founded by the actor and philanthropist, posted a video of him cutting a frankly massive cake and wrote: “Grateful for Coach @samheughan for starting this Movement 🙌 HAPPY BIRTHDAY COACH 🎂❤️”

My Peak Challenge is a global movement dedicated to educating and inspiring its members to live healthier, happier, and more balanced lives while raising funds to change lives.

And there were other celebratory posts on Instagram as well. The Official Outlander page put a picture of the actor on their grid and wrote: “He's one in a million. Happy birthday to our incredible leading man."

The second part of season seven of Outlander is expected to premiere in November 2024, and the story will then come to an end with a ten-episode eighth series.

When Sam visited Virgin Radio at the end of last year, he said of his time on Outlander: “It's a decade, 10 years! Ten years in the ginger wig, and it's been incredible. It's changed my life, honestly. It's been such an amazing journey, a great character and it's going to be bittersweet."

A prequel series titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood, has recently been announced. Set in the early 18th-century Scottish highlands, the narrative will follow Jamie’s mum and dad Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) as they attempt to set up a life for themselves amongst the area’s warring clans.
