Dancing on Ice star Greg Rutherford has taken to social media to share a new family update after he picked up a very nasty injury on the hit ITV show.

The Olympic gold medallist was supposed to take on Adele Roberts, Ryan Thomas and Miles Nazaire in the final of the series earlier this year, but had to pull out at the last-minute, after injuring himself nastily in training.

In a new post on his Instagram Stories, the track and field athlete shared a picture of one of his cooking creations and wrote: “We're having a s*** time as a family at the moment so I'm cooking through it. Thanks for all your well wishes."

Greg is engaged to partner Susie Verrill, and the pair have two sons and one daughter. His injury occurred at the start of March, just before the Dancing on Ice final was supposed to take place. Explaining what happened in training, Greg previously explained: “I managed to tear all of my abs as well as herniate. So I effectively gave myself a C-section.”

He said: “It was very painful, pretty horrible."

Earlier this month, the former Team GB star posted some fairly gruesome photos of his scars, having been operated on. He wrote: “A little stomach update… I’m almost 4 weeks post op now and feeling so much better. I can move around with almost no feeling of pain and the wound has now closed and healed. Pic 2 shows the insane swelling I initially had 🤣”

Despite the massive injury, the athlete perhaps teased a return to the ice, writing: “I can’t tense my abs properly still, but that’s coming. I also managed to put a ton of weight on since the op, so as soon as I’m ready I’ll be training to get myself trim again… maybe even back on skates 👀”

Corrie’s Ryan Thomas went on to win this year’s Dancing on Ice and dedicated the trophy to his injured pal: “Listen Greg, if you're watching this at home, this trophy is for you mate," he said.
